Our Difference
Your decision to build a home may be one of the biggest decisions of your life. So when it comes down to selecting a company to assist you, how do you choose? What makes the difference between one builder and another?

The difference is in the peace of mind Greenboro Homes can provide. We understand that your new home isn't just some product - it's the end result of a commitment to exceptional service and a passion for designing the inspiring, livable spaces that become central to our client's lives. No two homes are ever truly the same, with each new build being subject to its own particular characteristics and engineering challenges. And in much the same way, we understand that each one of our customers comes to the table with their own unique set of needs that they're looking to satisfy.

It's this awareness that allows us to establish the teams, processes, and services that make an otherwise complex process an easy one. After all, when you can make the biggest decision in someone's life one of the simplest, you allow them to focus on the things that really matter.

Better Foundations
Holmes Approved Homes use professional grade foundation wrap, which covers the foundation of the home like a protective blanket, preventing moisture from coming into contact with the concrete. This provides durable, lasting protection against basement flooding.

Better Tiling
The ceramic and stone tile areas in Holmes Approved Homes are supported by Schluter Ditra Underlayment. It bonds to the structure to increase load support and preserve the integrity of the tile assembly, while creating a tight water resistant barrier and preventing against cracks.

Better Structure
From the frame up to the roof sheeting, Holmes Approved Homes use BluWood. BluWood’s revolutionary two-part treatment process maximizes the durability of the wood used in the structure of your home, making it resilient to mould, moisture, rot, and termites. It’s non-toxic, environmentally friendly and warranty protected for life.

Better Skin
Your home's skin protects you and your family from the elements. Whether your home is stucco-sided or finished in Hardie Board, it has to take on the brunt of nature’s fury. DuRock’s PUCCS exterior insulation finishing systems (EFIS) add additional thermal protection to stucco installations and provide channels for essential water drainage, and Cor-A-Vent rain screen systems used in conjunction with Hardie Board installations allow the structural components of your home to breath in the event that water penetration occurs. Combined with a SRP AirOutShield breathable membrane underneath each system, your family can feel secure in the integrity of your home.

Better Insulation
Warmer floors. Reduced drafts. Structural reinforcement. Sound proofing, moisture proofing and fire proofing. These are just a few of the reasons Holmes Approved Homes use Walltite Eco and Roxul ComfortBatt insulation products. They also work to improve the energy performance of your home, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and saving you money on heating costs and energy bills.

Better Efficiency
Hot water tank technology has not seen the same sort of efficiency leaps modern high-efficiency furnaces have benefitted from. While on-demand systems bring certain key advantages, they must work significantly harder to heat Calgary’s notoriously cold groundwater, reducing the rate at which they can output hot water. Combining traditional water tanks with a heat recycling system like Watercycle’s drain waste heat exchanger can boost the overall efficiency of your water system, recovering up to 37% of the heat energy otherwise lost down the drain.

Better Air Quality
With modern homes being built tighter than ever, the quality of your indoor air becomes an increasingly important aspect of your family’s health. MERV-13 whole-house air filter systems like the TrueCLEAN Enhanced Air Cleaner from Honeywell deactivates 99% of the particles from the air entering your home, including airborne dust, pollen, smoke, mold spores, and other bacteria. Plus, superior filtration of the incoming air can save you money by keeping your heating and cooling equipment clean, improving efficiency and extending service life.

Better Inspections
Holmes Approved Homes are inspected eight individual times during the building process:

Four of these inspections are Mike Holmes Inspections field reviews, consisting of an on-site visit by a fully trained and certified Mike Holmes Inspector. This provides a valuable third-party review to protect the homebuyer, ensuring construction to above industry standards as well as use of the highest quality “green” products.

The additional four inspections consist of hi-res photo documentation, conducted by MultiVista Construction Documentation. This documentation provides a thorough, transparent record of the quality that exists behind the walls when builders take pride in their work and use their expertise to build homes to exceed industry standards.
